Once a cherished croft house, later a cattle byre and a traditional blacksmith’s workshop, The Smiddy has been masterfully reimagined into an elegant, single‑level luxury retreat. Part of the building once sheltered cattle, while the other housed Neil’s grandpa’s working smiddy—a place where horses were expertly shod for life on the crofts. Today, those rich layers of history are woven seamlessly into a sophisticated, contemporary space designed for indulgent island escape.

Step inside, and the former byre reveals itself as a tranquil bedroom and beautifully finished shower room, crafted with comfort in mind. The old smiddy now forms an expansive open‑plan living area, complete with a sleek, fully equipped kitchen featuring an oven, hob, fridge‑freezer, microwave, toaster, dishwasher, and a premium hot‑water tap for instant teas and coffees. Deep-set windows—true to the original stonework—flood the space with soft natural light, creating an unmistakably luxurious sense of calm.

The living area offers thoughtful touches for elevated relaxation: a plush sofa bed for additional guests, a 40″ Smart HD TV for cosy evenings in, and complimentary high-speed internet for effortless connectivity. Thick, expertly insulated walls and state-of-the-art air‑source underfloor heating ensure the cottage remains warm, serene, and inviting throughout every season—whether you’re savouring a crisp winter sunrise or unwinding after a sun-soaked summer’s day.

Where sturdy wooden doors once stood, elegant patio doors now open onto a private outdoor seating area—your own exclusive corner of Islay. It’s the perfect place to enjoy a glass of wine in the evening light, linger over breakfast alfresco, or simply breathe in the tranquillity of the surrounding landscape.

  • £150.00 non-refundable deposit is required at point of booking. Bank details will be provided. We do not accept credit cards at this time.
  • The deposit paid will be non refundable however if you are unable to travel to Islay due to restrictions in place from the Scottish Government at the time of your stay we will allow you to change the dates of your stay and carry the booking forward to such time when restrictions are lifted and you will be able to travel to Islay again. This will be subject to availability and if moving to a peak time may incur additional fees if your booking was out of peak season.
  • Confirmation of booking will be made when deposit has been received.
  • Remaining balance is due 6 weeks before arrival. If your booking is within 6 weeks of your stay then the full amount is due.
  • If a guest has to cancel a booking within 6 weeks of the stay, payment will be refunded only if a replacement booking is secured for the cancelled booking.
  • Access to property from 4:00pm and to be vacated on day of departure by 10:00am.
  • Rental period is minimum 4 nights.
  • We cannot accept any liability for personal property whilst in the cottages.
  • We assume you will take reasonable care of the cottages you are renting and we reserve the right to charge for any breakages, excessive cleaning or damage to the property while in your care.
  • It is recommended you takes out travel insurance which provides cover for holiday accommodation cancellations as well as ferry and plane disruptions and cancellations. Timetables and transport plans can change due to adverse weather or ferry breakdowns.
  • We have a strict NO SMOKING & NO PETS Policy.
  • The Cottages must not be used for parties or gatherings of any sort without clear prior approval.
  • In the event you have to extend your stay due to weather conditions or illness you will incur additional accommodation charges. Please make sure you have appropriate travel insurance.
